IGF-1 LR3 is a recombinant analogue of insulin-like growth factor 1 with an Arg³ substitution and a 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension. These modifications drastically reduce affinity for IGFBPs, producing a significantly longer plasma half-life and greater cellular bioavailability than native IGF-1. Research has investigated its role in IGF-1R activation, PI3K/Akt and MAPK pathway signalling, skeletal muscle hypertrophy, satellite-cell proliferation, and metabolic glucose handling in preclinical models.
